Intricately designed and crafted, one of Cartier’s new watches has made it to the frontlines this year at the Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie (SIHH), with a new theme of traditional granulation. Cartier’s Rotonde de Cartier: Panther with Granulation watch features the daring face of a panther on a round and golden surface, carrying non-conventional complex details of artwork rarely seen anywhere.
The case is 42mm, along with 43 pieces of diamond carefully set on the surface. The granules of gold are carefully placed on the dial of the watch to form an aesthetically pleasing look. This rare watch represents one of Cartier’s remarkable releases. Cartier’s release is one of its kind, because the tradition of granulation dates back centuries ago in the East.
While not certain what inspired the panther themed watch, it is clear that this new version of Rotonde de Cartier symbolizes strength and resistance. The delicate pieces of 22kt gold which are delicately heated and fused to the golden surface reveal a lofty and classy look. The complicated process of producing this stunning watch is not an easy one; it is no wonder that only twenty pieces will be produced.
